1996 C280 Wiper wont stop
Hi,
It was raining in San Jose today. After raining stop, I turn off my wiper, it will only stop when I turn off engine. But when engine starts the wiper keeps going again. Any help is appreciated. Thank you Cupertino |
One possibility is a faulty combination switch. I have had the same problem on my 97 C280.

thank you,
Do you remember how much was it ? is it something that I can do myself ? |
New combination switch is $150 or so I believe. You can order one from fastlane at the top of the page.
The combination switch is simply the entire turn signal stalk on the left of the steering column. Not too hard to replace, requires steering wheel and airbag removal. In my case, the problem was intermittent running of te windshield wiper with the switch off. Don't know if this is the problem in your case, make sure you troubleshoot all possible culprits to see if this is the problem. I believe I have also read about the combination relay causing the same problems. Do a search and you should find some info on the subject. |
Hi,
I posted a thread yesterday "wiper won't park" with exactly the same problem. Replacing the column switch did not cure. Seems to be a fault with the wiper parking mechanism - any new thoughts will still be appreciated! |
