E320, 1994 Blower motor not working

How difficult will it be to replace blower motor in 1994 E320 with 166k miles? I noted that motor brushes fail around 85K miles. Is replacing the pads/brushes difficult?
Thank you for any direction

94 E320 Blower Motor

I need to determoine if I have a dust filter on the 94 E320. Is there a way of determining if I have one? The blower motor is available but I have to find out if I have a dust filter?

The dust filters are right underneath the wiper mechanism.

Last year I posted replacement instructions for the dust filters for all 94-95 124 cars...

Blower Motor revisited

Gerry,
Great piece of work on the filter replacement scope. I was told that only some 94 E320's had filters. I ordered one off this site that was a blower motor with axial fans for non-filter E320's. I am hoping I will not have complications when I try to install, because I do not know if my E320 has the filter option. Possibly I can go use this non-filter blower motor regardless.

About your blower motor

They are dificult to get at. I work as a shop manager and had a mechanic pull out the blower motor on my 300e , it took him a few hors to complete the job. You access it thru the engine compartment and have to remove the wiper assembly.
The motor cost about $300.00 and is available only thru mercedes, you can also option the cheap-way (as I did) and buy one from your local junk yard, It wont be dificult if you live in a big city, for about $40, just make shure it is tested and operational before you buy it.
As far as I know there is no brushes replacing on the motor, I do not know if there are internal parts available for this motor.

""You can identify if your 124 has a cabin dust filter by looking at the trim underneath the wiper arm. If there is a hard plastic U shaped ("smile" shaped) piece of trim, with about 5 small phillips head screws holding it down, you do NOT have the dust filter. If this area on the otherhand is a solid piece of rubber, which will pull up out of a channel, it has the dust filter. You can also try looking for the filter through the air intake screen for the climate control, but checking which style molding is under the wiper arm is even easier. ""
