99 SLK230 59K mile Eng Code P0170 ?

Ok My 99 SLK230 (Auto Trans) with about 59,000 miles thew two codes BOTH are P0170 - Trim Mal Bank 1. I check the gas cap and it seems to be attached properly. Any ideas?

use the search engine here, there is tons of post on this.
Could be a bad MAA sensor - which is a simple $300 replacement part. However, some experienced techs tell you the whole story on the code and the proper method to go about repairing it.

Thanks I saw the group of threads that pop up after you post so I'm beginning to think it's the MAS (Mass AirFlow Sensor) which should be covered under my StartMark. I was more wondering what the Trim Malfunction Bank 1 was.

think trim malfunction is fuel trim malfunction.
also do a search under that, doing some diagnosis with the fuel trim is the proper way to check the fix for the code you got. that diagnosis will either lead to MAA or `the other thing that it could be `
There is a tech on this forum, think the name is Steve Brotherton, who has written extensively on the fuel trim malfunction
