560SL, Is head gasket leaking oil?

Gentelmen

I have attached a picture of what I saw when I removed my Intake manifold to replace the left cylinder head. I'm removing the head gasket to fix what I thought was an oil leak from the cylinder head. I was expecting to find about a 1/2" puddel of oil under the intake manifold but as you can see its only wet.

However I did find what appeares to be a drain hole in the back and I am wondering if someone could confirm that this is a drain hole. I have poked in it with a wire and it appeares to dead end. If it is a drain hole this is probably why I dont have a puddel.

There does appear to be some resemblence of oil leaking in here but a lot less than what I have been finding on the floor of my garage. I would hate to pull a head for nothing.

Thank You
John Roncallo
