Part ID (Drive belt shock?)
Hey everyone. This is for my 92 300e m103. If you look at the front of the engine, to the right of the distributor cover and towards the front of the engine from the coolant return, there is a black rod that connects from the engine block and goes down somewhere into the engine bay. My car is making a loud rattling noise when stopped and it is coming from the engine area. If you put your hand on this black "shock" you can feel a harsh vibration that is synchronized with the rattling noise. Is this piece the drive belt shock? And if it needs to be replaced, should I also order a new drive belt? Thanks!

Does it look like this?

Thats the part! Thanks a bunch.
