1990 300CE Auto Gearbox Problem
I was wondering if someone would be able to provide me with some advice.
I have a 1990 300CE with a 4-speed auto and switchable modes (S or E). When driving normally the car changes gear ok, albeit a bit jerky sometimes (even when warm). The latest thing however is that the gearbox is getting stuck in gear when I accelerate hard and doesn't change up at 6,500rpm as it used to, it just goes straight on through. When it passed the usual up change point and went in to the redline I was quick to take my foot off the gas and hopefully no damage has been caused to the engine. Mercedes serviced the car under a month ago and I was wondering if they may have damaged or knocked a vacuum hose off?? Also one minor and semi unrelated point. How come the ecomomy gauge on my car in sport mode moves all the way to the right when i'm off the gas but in economy mode stays at halfway? Thanks in advance for any advice. |
I have a 1990 300CE and it does not have any mode switch - sounds interesting.
Just guessing, but if the car was just serviced and has just started shifting funny and just started to have a gage malfunction, then a vacuum problem seems likely and may be something the servicer caused. Other than that I have no experience with a similar problem. |
