Taillight replacement SLK230
I have a light out in my 1998 SLk230. It is the clear one at the top of the right taillight. After wrestling with it my husband got it out. The light appeared to be okay, but he changed it and it still does not work. All the other lights work on the car.
We don't have a manual and do not know where the fuse for the light is located or if this is even the problem. Could it be the housing for the light?Any help would be appreciated. |
is it a brake light?
is your dash ` bulb out ` display on where did your husband get the replacement bulb? I ask because the car has a spare bulb in the rear light cluster and you have to check to make sure its part number matches the burnt out bulb light. |
Yes, it is the brake light. We checked the bulb and it was the same number as the one he took out.

I have never seen a "bulb out" display on my dash.

Update on the taillight. My husband took out the entire taillight assembly and found buildup around the socket hole for the top bulb. He cleaned it off and it is working now. I am wondering if I would have to purchase the entire taillight assembly if this fix does not work for long.
