300E Hard to keep engine running
Ok, Let me see where do I really want to start.
First, the cap and rotor were replaced, spark plugs, Gas distributor, cold start sensor or switch, small squared box connected to/or by throtle body, fuel regulator(not the switch). Car will start but when trying to accelerate, very carefully, air intake respond but sounds like when you hit the gas and no fuel but air goes in. Am planning to replace the spark plug wires next and recheck the wires in the distributor, since someone else intalled them for me. Any other sugestions? Note:Hello everyone! Sorry to jump so hard but am desperate to fix this car. We only pay $400 and is worth the fixing. |
check fuel pump pressure and possibly clogged fuel filter

There could be a hundred things wrong with that car. like someone else who recently posted, you are using the shotgun approach, replacing everything. That is going to get very expensive, especially when you dont know what you are actually replacing (ie- 'squared boxes')!
Better try a different tack or your $400 car is going to get very expensive. Where are you? what year is your car? |
Kind of just threw parts at it didn't you?
After replacing all that crap has anyone verified the mixture is set properly? First you should check the wires. From end to end they should be near 1Kohm resistance! Normally I say use all Bosch but I find the wires for Bosch and even the spark plug connectors do not always test to 1KOhm unless you pony up and get them from the Stealer! Some reason the ones you get online from parts stores are a B or C stock item and not quite up to snuff on tolerances. You should have also tested the EHA before replacing, the little black box! As with the temp sensor. I see you did not do an O2 on the list so check that as well. And finally check all Vacuum connections and the Intake Boot. But if you have no power when rev'ing could also be head gasket or cat convertor clog related. So check oil and coolant for the opposite to be in it and do a compression check if after you have tested and fixed everthing else. Most likely your mixture is way the hell off or the EHA is way off! These need to be setup not just replaced! |
