1995 S500 twiches and brake indicator on/off
 

Hi,
I have 2 problems with my 1995 S500

1. The car twiches when its in drive and I fully stop. It does not do it as often and as hard as it did before I fed it a fuel injector. Anyone know what this might be? :rolleyes:

2. The seconds problem is recently the brake indicator would flash for a while while I am driving on a straight road (ie. not making a sharp turn). I do not have the parking brake on. It would flash and then come off. It also flashes when I make curved turns at resonable speed. I am thinking this that it needs some braking fluid. :confused: If so which brand do I go with? Hopefully it's not the brakes.

3. I was wondering which brand and type of oil filter and transmission fluid is good for my car?

The brake reservoir is clear so it makes it easy to see of the fluid level in is correct. Use any DOT 4 fluid if it needs topping off, but make sure there are no leaks first and also check to see if the pads need replacing.

Ya I think its the pads cause no leaks. And I was wondering where the braking fluid reservoir is located :confused:

On top of the master cylinder. Master cylinder is attached to the vacuum booster near the rear driver's side of the engine compartment.

"flash for a while while I am driving on a straight road" is an indication your brake pads need replacing. The brake wear sensor wire is contacting the rotor/disc. Check the rear pads, I had the same symtom.


"car twiches when its in drive and I fully stop" When is the last time you had your engine motor mounts replaced. The motor mounts will flatten over time causing a "rough" idle or "twitch" when fully stopped. The M119 engine is VERY heavy and wears motor mounts quickly.

Moble 1 Synthenic seems to be the oil of choice for most MB owners. You can purchase the Trans filter and oil filter from Phil on this website. He sells MB approved parts

Thank you for all the reponses. The brake problem were the front pads, got Amsoil oil, and I guess will be replacing motor mounts. :)
