124 Passenger Airbag Removal
I've done a search for this, but wanted to check anyway- am I right that to remove the passenger-side airbag you disconnect the battery, then unscrew the large bolt under the airbag/above the footrest and carefully pull towards you and undo the red connectors at the rear of the bag?
any comments appreciated. The part I need to get to is the screw on the left of the centre vents to remove the vent assembly. |
One caution I can pass on is to minimize your sliding around in the cabin when you do this work. This sliding around can build up a static charge in your body (the same charge that sometimes shocks you when you open the door), which can then pass trough the wiring and set off the airbag.

Missing an important step...
After disconnecting neg. battery terminal, remove the passenger floor mat, and unscrew the metal plate in the footwell. You'll see a red test connector for the airbags. Disconnect it. THEN you can unbolt and remove the passenger airbag.
Don't forget to store it with the finished side UP (turns into a dangerous projectile if stored upside down and it fires for some reason). |
