Every once in a while the left headlight washer/wiper on our '92 300E goes wacko. Starts wiping and squirting all by itself. Runs 'til it empties the tank. It's been very sporadic until yesterday, and it's now happened 3 times in 24 hours.

Anyone have any solutions? I'd even consider disconnecting them (who uses them anyway - I live in South Texas). Is there a quick/easy way to disconnect them?

Thanks,
Bill Streep

Yes and feel free to disable the critters. On each headlight assy on the outside lower edge, I believe, you will find a plug. Gently remove this plug and the wipers will go into hibernation.

wiper/washer disconnect.

Thanks for the help. How about how to disconnect the washer? Or will it run only when the wiper runs??

Thanks,

I can only speak from my experience with my 300E, but it seems the washers are slaved to the wipers. That is to say if you disconnect the wiper motor plugs at the headlights, this also kills the pump motor for the washers. Leave the pump in place, it makes a good spare if the main lets go.
