Replacing Power Steering Filter - '92 300E
What's the procedure for replacing the power steering fluid filter in my 1992 300E? Are there any "tricks of the trade" I should know about?
Thanks for any help. |
Not much of a job.
Get access to the cap. Remove cap. Then you will see the shaft sticking up. I use a large 1qt suringe that I got from the tool truck to suction out the fluid. Then use a deep 10mm socket to loosen the nut you see at the top of the shaft. The shaft is holding a spring that presses on the filter so use care. Sometimes the shaft just comes out and the nut stayes on the shaft not to worry just remove afterwards. Take a pair of needle nose pliers and stick each point into a deferent hole in the top of the filter and wiggle up and out. Then re asseble and top of fluid. If you already know most of this and just wanted to see if anyone had some tips sorry for the long explanation. |
Use a turkey baster to suck out the old fluid.
