89' 300E hard start and high idle
No, no, no!
Okay.... I was at a friend's house, three hours later, I go to my car... I try starting it... hold key in starting position for 7 secs! Still no start... I repeat this process 2 more times.... (engine turns over, but does not engage!!!) On forth, it starts up... car behaves normally... (Engine temp gauge reads 60C, outside temp is ~75F) Go for drive (10 min), come back, notice that the idle in drive is at about 900RPM... (too high for this engine temp) Shift to P, engine RPM goes up to 1500! I shut off engine, and go inside house... 2 hours later.... I start up and all is normal the whole drive back.... WHAT HAPPENED????!?! I suspect the ICV (Idle Control Valve) ... is it about to give up on me? I recently removed it (3/15/05) and soaked it in carb cleaner... got a LOT of brown gunk out... this thing cost $180! |
I had a somewhat similar problem that turned out to be the idle switch that is connected to throttle linkage under the air cleaner.

Thanks!
I took my air cleaner off again, and lubricated the linkage! Helped a lot anyways... Thanks again! |
