95 Mercedes SL320 hesitation

I was wondering if someone could tell me why my 1995 SL320 is hesitating when driven after sitting overnight or for a few hours. The car starts and runs fine but under acceleration it jerks and hesitates as if it is going to stall but then the problem goes away until the next time it sits for a few hours. The mercedes shop said that it was an accerator motor but if it is a motor why would the problem cease after initial acceleration. I really hope someone can help, this problem is driving me crazy.

It sounds like fuel related. Have you changed the fuel filter? Also, you may want to clean the fuel injectors. Look for the obvisious first before going to the expensive route.

I believe you have the M104 engine in your model...same as in my W124.

I suffered from the same ills with mine, and new set of spark plugs cured it.

During the same repair timeframe, had the fuel filter replaced. But I know the plugs were the real problem, because the symptoms still existed after the filter swap.

Already had those things done...

The sparkplugs in the car were replaced a few months ago, along with the fuel injectors. Does anyone think the fuel filter could really cause this to happen after sitting overnight? The check engine light is also on, the Mercedes dealership resets it everytime I bring the car in but returns a week or so after being reset. Could this be the cause of the hesitation, possibly a fuel pump going bad? Thanks for the previous replies.

MBSL, when is the last time the oxygen sensor was replaced? Have the dealer check that it is functioning properly.
