Radiator Neck in 95 E420
 

i want to replace the hoses in my 1995 E420. I want to know if the radiator neck on my car is reinforced with metal inside. if it's not, I'll have the shop do the hoses so that they can replace the radiator if (when) the neck breaks off.

I seem to remember someone saying that the later W124s had reinforced radiator necks. DOes anyone know for sure?

Removing the upper hose shouldn't cause the neck to break. If it is that brittle you just did yourself a favor. Once the hose is off look for the little metal collar.


I have never had much luck with plastic radiators past the 10 year mark. I would plan on replacing it in the next few years.
