W124 Transmission Swap
I just spoke with a Mercedes transmission rebuilder who says that swapping my 722.358 transmission from my 1989 300ce for a 722.369 from a 1994-1995 E320 would work just fine and would give me that added benefit of starting out of 1st gear instead of 2nd.
Anyone have any experience or comments? |
Is there a problem with you trans now? If not you could have the valve body modified for $275 - of course you would have to remove the valve body and ship it and then reinstall it. Check withSilver Star Transmissions 800-369-6601. They claim a one day turn around (with prior notice).

Lino, I know nothing about the swap... but I like the idea of upgrade at this point rather than paying to get back to where you started. Unless you can teach your sister? to drive a stick that sounds like a good way to go. |

Silver Star Transmissions may be able to give you some advice on swapping. If it would work, the swap appears the way to go unless it cost too much. There must be somebody who has experience with this. Cary. |
I will call them tomorrow and see what they say. Thank you very much for the contact information for Silver Star Transmissions. I tried to find a website for them, but couldn't find one. I did however, find an ad:
