70Nm. Remember to oil the bolts.
Here is the correct tightening order: http://dano.pocketrubbish.com/images...oltpattern.gif This is for my 1990 300SE, but we both have the same engine. |
Thanks Danwatt. You wouldent happen to know how to access the blower motor would you?It quit working on me.I guess Ill check fuses before I get too crazy. Thanks again

How much does the cylinder head weight?
Getting to the blower motor I believe involves removal of the engine bay trim around the windshield and removal of the dash.... |
The head on my 1992 300SE was extremely heavy. I wish I had weighed it but i would estimate close to 100lbs. or more. I did manage to pull it off by myself when doing a valve job recently, but it was very difficult. Have someone help you to prevent injury or damage.
When replacing the head I would recommend using an engine hoist to lower it and to avoid damaging the head gasket. Extreme care is necessary when lowering into place. An extra person or two would be wise. A tip - put the rear four head bolts into the head before lowering. These are difficult to impossible to put in after the head is in place. It's a big job but having done it successfully it feels really good. Tim |
On the 300E , you get to the blower motor under the wiper at the base of the windshield...all from outside the car...no need to remove the dash.

Thanks for the input.Sounds like a lot of good advice.Hope to start it this weekend & hopefully get the blower diag tomorrow.
