I have a 1986 190E with 158,000 miles. Last week the car suddenly cut out as I was driving it, and I parked it. When I came back to the car the next day it started, but stalled as soon as it reached normal operating temperature, and would not restart until it cooled off again. I changed fuel filter, no help. Runs fine until it suddenly stops. What next???? Thanks

Robert,
Isn't there a sensor (cold-start valve) that adjusts fuel-air ratio for cold starts. As the car heats up, the mixture stays too rich, and the car stalls (floods). This is why my Ford will not run in temps below 20F. I finally figured this out and will be getting a new unit after the Holidays. Good Luck, [Edited by WmHarlow on 12-23-2000 at 11:22 AM] |
