2.3 16v dash gone mad

last month replaced speedo cable- dash out-replaced all ok. today got in car- indicate right-l/h dash light flashes (visa-versa) got no oil pressure/ no temp. when ignition is on the first turn the headlight main beam comes on- when ig fully on the low water gauge lights up. the dash had an earth lead on the back could this be the culprit? thanks in anticipation ken

You don't need to remove anything but the knee bolster to replace a 16V's speedo cable.

You might have one of the multi-plug connectors loose. Time to pull the whole cluster and take a look-see.

I usually remove the steering wheel when removing the cluster, but if you don't completely remove it, you should be able to see behind it if anything is loose/disconnected without removing the wheel. Just disconnect the speed cable and pull it towards the steering wheel.

dash gone hairwire

i took the dash out because it was an absolute nightmare trying to get the r/h air vent pipe out. now i have got to replace the clutch slave cylinder. looks very nice in the manual (haynes)( looks like they do it on a bench by the photos) but i bet it will be a pig getting to the top bolt on the cylinder. as i had a quick look today. (waiting for the cylider to arrive)
