mystery wire in 380 cluster

I went to put my cluster back in a 380sl and when I connected the two leads that connect together and connect to the clock I found a lead that was spliced to it then the wire goes to two small white cubes in line about 3/4 by 1 inch with the code of 237 055 on them then the wire goes another 12 inches with a clip on the end Anybody have any ideas??
