The microswitch on the thottle linkage is NOT the device that sends the idle position signal to the ECU. This function is accomplished by the Throttle Valve Switch (TVS) on the end of the throttle shaft. The TVS has a three pole pigtail that connects to the engine harness in front of the metering unit in the vicinity of the #1 inlet runner on M103s. The primary function of the microswitch is to restore fuel flow before the throttle actually opens, which avoids jerky operation.

The easiest way to disable all the KE electronics is to pull the OVP relay, since it provides power to the ECU, idle control valve, TVS, and microswitch. With the OVP removed the system functions just like its K-Jetronic forebear, except there is not cold start enrichment since that is all handled by the "E" part of the KE system.

Thank you for the TVS correction and OVP tip. I have made the updates (with credits).
