300TD Euro Bumpers
I have a 1985 300TD and want to put Euro bumpers on it. I speak German and have been watching German Ebay but I don't know if the sedan and wagon have the same bumper, and the inquiries that I have made to Germany have been fruitless. Has anyone done this conversion and do you have the part numbers? Is it a direct switch or is there fabrication required? By the way, if you are willing to deal with the language barrier and shipping, there are a wealth of W123 parts on German Ebay.
By the way, I searched old posts first before I made this post. Thank you for your help. :) |
300TD euro bumpers
I have a 1984 300TD wagon (European-version) and it has the original euro-bumpers (shorter than US-versions)... you CANNOT use the same rear bumper from a euro-sedan on a euro-wagon because the euro-sedan bumpers do not have the factory provision square cutouts (2) for the euro-wagon bumper's rear foglight and reverse light. The front euro-bumpers are interchangeable from euro-sedan/wagon to US-versions... My website has pics of my euro-wagon - take a peek.
Curious- but why are you interested in swapping your US-bumpers to Euro-bumpers on your '85 300TD? An '85 300TD is already somewhat hard-to-find...since it was the last year of production and the numbers were lower than usual, especially for a turbodiesel wagon. Also, if you still have the original H-3 US headlights, it may look odd/mismatched (to the purists) with the euro-bumpers installed... and btw, euro bumpers (especially from a euro-wagon) are scarce here in the US... Ebay Deutschland is a W123 wealthland, but high shipping costs can be a nightmare |
