94 e320 pin 8 code 13
Keep getting pin 8 code 13. Replaced MAF, replaced vac tube that goes around front of engine, checked EGR valve and cleaned tube. Engine runs, but misses--more so at idle and during acceleration. Any suggestions? (previously had egr fault code, and pin 14 code 11. these have not come back)
Thanks in advance for any ideas. |
I had the same code. Replacing the Engine Control Module fixed it.

Hi Iwould have your engine harness looked at,before you spend any more time and money.joeym PS if it is the harness and you do not fix it you can burn out the ECM

I echo Joey's comments ..... If you have not replaced your engine harness, you need to do it now. Look at the wire insulation around the thermostat housing beyond the fabric wrap. If you see cracks or can chip off the insulation with your fingernail, the harness needs replacing before it shorts and causes more damage.

I agree with Jim & Joe. The wiring harness for this model year has to be replaced.

Wiring harness appeared fine until I peeled back the fabric wrap. Found plastic dust and lots of exposed copper. It's amazing this thing runs at all. Anyone know a good supplier for a wiring harness? How much?
Thanks, I'll let you know how this turns out. J. M. van Swaay |
I would recommend the dealer. There are variations depending on the installed options. Stand by when you here the price .... $900-1,300 depending on the dealer markup. I would call Caliber Motors in California 800-252-6877 for a quote.
As a do-it-yourself job, it is doable (I did it). Lay the new harness on top of the engine and then remove and replace connectors in sequence. As you can tell, this is a MUST project. |
