Smoke from exhaust of my 560sel after freeway driving
The only time I notice the smoke is after having driven 70-90 mph on the freeway, exiting and coming to a complete stop at the light, then upon take off a huge cloud of grayish smoke leaves my exhaust.
I just had my fuel mixture adjusted and don't recall noticing it before this. Did my mechanic just do it incorrectly? I have replaced the head gasket so thats not it. |
smoke
Hi Are you checking the oil level to see if its using more then normal, also were the cyl heads redone,( new valve guides fitted and reamed, correct seals ect) ,sounds like oil getting sucked in thru the valve train.Iwould pull out the plugs and see if one or more cyl have oil on them,if not then i would look elswere.joeym

Any other ideas? I have a few oil leaks so its hard to tell if it uses more oil than its supposed to. I took a closer look when this happened the other day and the smoke is actually white, not gray. Also there is a smell of burnt gas/oil in the cabin when this happens.

white smoke...?? That would be from water/coolant. Have you been keeping track of your coolant level?
The smell in the cabin, do you have the climate control on? You may be getting the fumes from various fluid burning off your manifolds. How many miles are on the car? Have the heads ever been done? Jonathan |
