Help w/ strange option codes
Using this site... http://www.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/index.html?lng=eng
I came up with a few of option codes that I don't understand. Anyone have these or know what they mean? 524 paintcoat preservation (с 01.01.1964) - is this clearcoat? 639 elimination of first-aid box and warning triangle (с 01.08.1977) - I still have my first-aid kit in the back window. Where would the triangle normally be? It was an option to not have them? 801 Change of year of model, last figure shows new model year This sounds odd all together. What does this mean? Thanks in advance. |
Option codes change somewhat for different year models!
Code 494 in the 80/90's meant California version, NOW that code means USA version! All US delivered cars get a US approved first-aid kit instead of the DIN standard in Germany, also US cars don't get the warning triangle that the European versions MUST have! What year is the car you are asking about?? 801 means 2001 now! The 524 code was for the SPECIAL shipping "wax" that was applied to keep surface paint problems to a minimun durning SEA shipments. The EPA stopped that as the cleaning process caused excessive pollution. Now they use TAPE! |
codes
here are the definition for the codes you mentioned, the p applies to passenger vehicles.
