420sel ride height

1988 420sel
Ok, I did a search and there has been a lot of discussion on the w124 but not the 126. So I've been noticing lately that my rear ride height is a little low. I checked and it looks to be about 1.5-2 inches above the rear tires (stock wheels, suspension etc.) and the front looks pretty high -- Maybe 5-6 inches above the wheel.
Could somebody check their cars and tell me the proper front/rear ride height? Also, any ideas on what could be wrong? I'm thinking either differential mount or shocks/springs.

Thanks

Peter

The rear height on my 91 420SEL is about 2", Front is about 3.5-4".

5-6" seems a little too high for the front.

Thanks newr - I just went out to check my car and I have no idea where I came up with the 1.5-2 inch number. The fender is right at the top of the wheel. So is it riding low? Any ideas what the cause is?

Thanks
Peter

I've been struggling with the exact same issues with the SDL.

I make all my measurements from the pavement to the inside of the fenderwells.

The front sits between 28" and 28.5" depending on load in the back.

The rear sits between 25" and 25.75" depending on fuel and load.

I recently changed the subframe bushings and differential mount and the rear ride height increased by about 1/2" or so. However, it needs to increase another 1 inch to look proper.

The front end needs to come down by at least 1 1/2 inches to look proper.

I am going to attempt to find "heavy duty" springs for the rear which offer a slightly higher spring rate. Hopefully these springs will provide the increase in rear ride height.

I am currently running brand new 19 mm spacers above the springs.
