Gilly I need your imput

My 1991 560 SEC has 84000 miles. Is it age or milage that determines when to change the timing chain rails?

This car has had Mobil 1 all it`s life , runs fine, no rattle at start up.

Thanks,
John

Well, a little of both. Also, climate plays into the decesion in my mind. If you live in the deep south where the engine will typically run hotter, then I would look to change the guide rails sooner. At 84,000 you Should be OK, but then again it is cheap insurance/peace of mind to change everything out.

Don't forget the oil line clips, they are known to fail w/ age as well.

Thanks Jonathan. I thought they could become brittle just from age.

Jonathan,
Replaced my injectors because of leak down. Started an intermintent ship at idle right after. Have tried to adjust mixture, seemed better. Than I changed plugs and the skip came back. Runs great other than the skip. The old plugs were worn, and tanish brown, no oil soot, very clean.

Any suggestions? And oh, I didn`t mind you awnsering.

John
