sl 500 ride height difference side to side
Hello, We just purchased a 1993 sl 500 with 31,000 miles. It is a beautiful car. However, I noticed that the passenger's side front ride height measured at the fender lip is 1/2 inch lower than the driver's side front ride height. The back is the same side to side. Is this a problem other than looking a bit off, and how can it be corrected? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The R129 chassis can have regular suspension OR (ADS) adaptive dampening system? which does your new car have?
IF the answer is standard suspension then changing rubber spring pads can correct the ride height problem! EACH spring has a rubber pad that is available in upto 4 sizes to correct that problem. |

Thank you very much for your reply. The vehicle has a regular suspension. I'll look into the spring pad situation.

My 92 was that way until I had the front shocks/struts replaced. I was also having trouble with clearance betwen the tops of the tires and the fenders.
I know that shocks aren't SUPPOSED to affect the way a car sits, ot it's height, but I can't argue with the results. Yours is the same age mine was when I had the work done. Check the front shocks... |

Thank you for the information.

My car (86 560sl) was lower on the right until I changed out the subframe mounts and motor mounts. The left mount was torn free and the right was smashed. Both rearward subframe mounts were collapsed. I have heard that motor mounts (more complex) also fail on the newer models.
