Automatic Headlight Off

My 1998 E300 Turbo has a feature where at night when you shut off the car the headlights remain on a short while to allow you to see where you are going. The manual says that the dealer can adjust the time that these lights remain on. Anyone know how to make this adjustment, I hate to go to the dealer for something that seems simple. Thanks.

You'll need to change coding. As far as I know it can not be done without the MB tool.

The version coding is in the PSE module for that vehicle I believe. No remote way to change that - someone correct me if I'm wrong.

If it can be done, the instruction manual should say so - they are usually very comprehensive. It would probably be with the computer screen thing in the dash (assuming your model has that), and you may have to adjust it with the ignition off and the feature activated, or something bizarre like that.

Otherwise, it's dealer time I guess..

Thanks for the answer, but I don't have the multi function steering wheel or the display feature you describe. I will live with this or have the dealer do it if it bugs me. I don't need the headlights on and figure why drain the battery.
