Question Heavy Duty Shock Absorbers for 1992 300E

I've not been able to find heavy duty Bilsteins for my 1992 300E. The Bilstein website does not list any heavy duty shocks for this car. Only Comfort, front V36-4050 and B36-1388 rear.

Are any other brands of shock available that are high quality and heavy duty?

Someone is always selling HD Bilsteins for 300Es on ebay. I always see auctions for fronts and for all 4 new at little over $100/shock.

On the Bilstein website those part numbers indicate they are for model years 1983-1991, so my presumption is they will not fit my 1992.

Did you put the shocks with the part numbers you quoted on a 1992? If so were there any problems with fitment?

Quite remarkably, the Bilstein website is a mess. I wouldn't pay any attention to it. You'll get better information from the dealer, or from here.

i agree with this post, be sure to check your dust covers, bumb stops and strut mounts, if any are bad or missing now is the time to replace them. see pictures below, i didn't have a mount picture, it is the top where the strut attaches, make sure it is not cracked

Here is a picture of a front strut mount- Almost always cracked with older cars where they have never been changed.
