Outdoor temp gage wiring question...
I purchased a new temp gage for my 87 300D from Ebay a while ago. I ended up getting a unit with five pins in a row. I just pulled the dash and the original only has 4 pins in a square pattern. Does anybody know if or how I can install the "new" five pin unit?
I've been looking for a wiring diagram or something to campare the two with no luck. Lukejt |

You need the 5-pin plastic wiring plug. Open your old connector and rearrange the 4 pins into the new plug. The extra pin is for the hall sensor, and is not required to display the temperature. It does help with the accuracy in some situations though.

Cool, thanks. Can you just jumper the two pins with the green wires? I see I have five wires, into 4 pins. I didn't remove the plug to see what went where yet. I put the dash back together until I find the plug.
Punched a small hole in the dash while removing the center cluster :( Lukejt |
You don't jumper anything together. You just leave one pin in the plug open, and the display will function just fine.

Bump
Does anybody know the part number for the 5-pin connecter shell? I too have a 5-pin display unit from Ebay with no connector and a 4-pin car :(

Anyone? I need to find that piece as well.
