I'm pretty sure it's a non-lockup converter but wanted to verify.

Non lockup .Mercedes first lockup converters were used in the 722.6 transmissions

1990-91 S-class' were all four speeds - 722.3xx. 722.6s came out in 96/97 models.

To the best of my knowledge in 1990 and 1991 the only cars that had 722.5 transmissions were the 300SL 722.500 and the 300SL 24 7722.50. The 722.5 transmissions are non lockup.
