88 300SE Front ABS Sensor Cleaning Question
I want to clean the front sensors. I sprayed the outside of the sensors to clean them off. After removing the small allen bolt, I gently pulled the sensor housing away from the portion of the brake it's mounted to. Neither moved at all. How do I remove them for cleaning without damaging them? Do I try to get a thin putty knife between the sensor and the "brake part" and gently separate them? I just don't want to break them by removing them the wrong way or prying in an area I shouldn't.

Ron:
I have the same model as you, more or less and have been down this road. After removing the 5mm allen head, I sprayed PB Blaster all around the sensor and started twisting it left-to-right and vice-versa. I'd spray a little bit more at it as it loosened and eventually it worked itself out. It took awhile. Once out, I sprayed the business end where the build up is with brake parts cleaner. The drivers side was filthy; the passenger side was fairly clean. |
