Dash light out
The dash display light went out the other night. Any ideas how to repair this?
|
I have 2 ideas: be more specific, and do a search and find 100s of posts about dash illumination problems and fixes.
|
Well.....
Only one light is out? |
only one of the lights? which one? the instrument panel? ac? radio? shifter? window switches??
|
I turn on the headlights and the dash; speedo & engine gauge panel dosen't light up. I don't know if its one or several bulbs. I don't know where the bulb(s) are. i.e do you need to take out the whole gauge panel or is the bulb somewhere you can get to and replace. I don't know how much more to explain this. When you look at the speedo at night you can't see it. I don't notice if this effected the radio illumination everything works except the light.

Problem solved
This genius just adjusted the reostat. I haven't driven the car at night for sometime and must have turn down the dimmer when I reset the trip. Thanks for the comments.........

glad to be of help. oh and its rheostat. and the lights inside the instrument cluster are actually not bulbs but htye are led lights... i think. and they are quite difficult to replace
|
Uh, they are bulbs in the 300E and other 124s. Two to be exact, type 194 I believe. If you pull the cluster (which can be done in 5 seconds by someone with correct tool, two little hook things) both bulbs can be changed in about 10 seconds, they are in twist in/out brown plastic sockets.
