Leaking 190e trunk
I have a 90 190e and after it rained the other day, I noticed a small accumulation of water on both sides of the trunk. I checked the trunk rubber and it was fine. When I climbed into the trunk and looked up I found water droplets and small rust spots at where the rear shelf is welded to the frame. I am assuming that the the rear glass rubber is the culprit but it seems ok to me.Has anyone else had this problem ? Is it a bad habit of the car to leak there? I would like to get some feedback before I give them the ok to pull the glass out to check for that leak.

No need to pull the rear glass. Just lift the outer rubber and insert sealant all around the window. Mine does the same thing but I have not put sealant in there since I replaced the rear window. Even says in the MB Maint CD that it just need to have sealant squirted in there. Need a tube of sealant with a long nozzle with a thin point end on it. Basically get the tube of sealant and cut the nozzle leaving it with a small hole in the end. Not pin hole small but small.

Anyway, clean the drain plugs at the bottom of the trunk sides to let any water entering the trunk out. The plugs tend to get stuffed. |
Also don't use silacone to seal it. cylicone promotes rust. Use a type of body sealer I think your local auto paint supply store will have a good 3M product for you.
