Temperature sensor 4cyl 8v 190e testing
 

I have a uk 2.0 190e which I think is similar to the usa 2.3l. I have cold start problems which I think is related to the temp sensor. From what I have gathered on here the temp sensor is usually a single pin sensor, whereas on mine it appears to be a four pin sensor (beside the fan temp sensor, next to the air cleaner). Has anyone any idea how to test the four pins (numbered 1,2,3,4) with an ohmmeter to figure out if I need to replace this part? Any help appreciated

I;ve seen that sensor in the manual...

You'll have to get a response from someone whom's got a cd handy. The 1 pin connector you refer to is for the gauge in the car.

Testing the coolant temperature sensor ,the risistance value of each intermal sensor must be measured & compared to the other,mersure the resistance between any two of the diagonally opposed terminals.

I'm not sure about which pins to test or whether the resistance test values would be different, but here are the temperature sensor resistance values to check if the sensor's working properly (information originally posted by someone else here); on my 2.0 uk car the sensor read correct to within ~5-10 % - but I believe I had a 2 pin sensor...

Just to add I've never seen a 4 pin sensor on a 2.0 ltr engine before...mine is a thick single pin brass jobbie. If you have starting issues as the ambient temps have risen (summers here) then its 99% certain to be the sensor. The same happened to me last summer. I'd just buy a new one they are'nt expensive.
