remove M119 cam cover

Here's an easy one, a little hand holding, please. The driver's cam cover won't budge, after removing the bolts. I don't want to pry in the wrong place and break it, or damage a gasket surface. please help with any hints on how to get this loose. (92 400e) Thanks.

I knocked gently on the front of it with a hammer and piece of wood. It came loose. Did remove the fuel union at the pressure regulator, very little fuel came out, maybe a tablespoon. Best to lift up, as there is a steel vaccum line that extends from underside of the cover into the cylinder head, wouldn't want to bend that one.
Is there a way to inspect for the cam oilers that are broken? The metal ones in this engine 'look' fine, but I heard ticking so was looking for offending oilers.

Plastic oiler tubes are the ones that fail - the bottom end blows out. The metal ones, I believe , should never need replacing.

I just replaced the plastic tubes on my E420 as a preventative measure. My friend tried to do the same on his '93 500e at the same time, until we discovered that his engine had the metal tubes (12/92 production date).

While you're in the engine, I'd replace the plastic chain guide at the top of the chain on each side. Takes only a few minutes. Mine was brittle - very brittle. MAke sure you put plastic wrap all around that sucker when you try and remove it - the platic tabs that hold it together will reak and fly off otherwise.
