Blower motor

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am working a 99 E300 TD 166K and have been having a problem with the heater motor. What happens is that it will work sometime and then not. I have done some searching and found Arthur Daltons test but I think it was done on an older car. Still it seems to be almost the same. First I put 12 volts to the motor and it works. I get .9 to 6 volts @ the yellow term and 11 volts @ the red wire that plugs into the regulator with 12.5 volts @ the jumper term @ the left side of the engine. The motor comes on when I ground the black wire. This is where Arthur says blue wire but this must be correct because there is only 2. One red and one black. Next I turned it on with everything back in place and it works??? I know that the regulator is a heat sink and the motor is just a motor. These should not be intermitent. What could trip this thing? Also, while I am in there I would like to change the brushes. Where can I buy them? MB does not sell them.

The regulator is an electronic device that has a heat sink. The regulator is not a heat sink it is a heat source.
