W202 Trunk Switch Replacement

1 Attachment(s)
Attached is a pic of the W202 center console..1996. The trunk swith is bad and I need to replace it. I cannot figure out what snaps off in the center console to get the switch out.....don't want to break anything..

Thanks

I have had to remove this same piece on my c280. If you pull up lightly on the front edge of the entire wood trim piece it should all snap out. I would be careful though... wood gets brittle and they are not cheap.

switch

yes just pull up the wood from the area by the radio, but depending on the year the trunk switch can be part of the window switch assembly or by its self. if the trunk switch is seperate it is mercedes number 210-821-00-51, if it is part of the switch assembly you have to buy the whole group. i believe yours is early and is seperate.

when I remove the center wood panel, I use an ultra thin credit card pushed in near the corner of the plastic black shift surround to push in the tabs and pull up the shift selector lever surround.

Once the surround is removed I pull up from the opening now available in the center of the wood panel.

I also place a 100% cotton rag over the wood to protect it when prying the plastic surround up and in.

Been awhile since I have done this, but there a two tabs per side of the center wood console that you need to be careful with, just be aware of them.
