Need help w/ MB part number ! w201 190e

Hi,
First let me say that I'm new to this forum and it's been a great help so far, kudos.

Anyone out there knows the MB part # for the back Tailight connector (driver side) on a w201 - 190e. I need the one with foglight connection, it should be an 8pin connector unlike the one i got now which is a 6pin connector (w/ no foglight).

I'm retrofitting my 89 190e 2.6 US to make the back foglight work.

thnx,

I just installed the Euro version of the rear tail light assembly, with the rear fog, and it uses the same 6 pin connector (same as the E-code headlight plug) that the North American cars use.

By "retrofitting" are you installing the Euro light switch?

Hi MTI,

I changed my tailight a month ago and was checkin this morning because I will install some front euros pretty soon... So might as well do it all in 1 shot...

Sure enough, it has the metal lug and the wire running inside all the way to the male plug (part of the assembly).

Mine is just like yours pictured but it has 8 pin underneath. the wire for the foglight is wired on pin#2 which is not covered by the current connector (which is 6 pins right now) so it's just floating out there. Btw, pin #1 is empty. Pins 4 to 8 are connected.

How's yours, when you look at the lug, where does the wire goes to ????

I got the euro rosetta plate for inside, still need to get the vacumm switch for my future front. The US rotary switch should work since it has the 2 fog positions anyway! I would thing so...

The bulb holder that you have in your picture shows the 10W bulb at the end, but I thought that was only for the North American requirements. My E-code lenses don't have that last bulb and don't have the hole in the lenses to allow any light from that bulb to get out.

This pic shows the NA unit on top, with the bulbs, and the E-code version on the bottom.

The E-code reflector is on the left, the North American on the right

Sorry MTI,
I'm might be wrong but I'm not sure I follow you !!!
I mean, I get it that yours are euros.... but

My tailight IS US and it has the foglight socket in. I think in the later years (after 90 or 91) the US w201 had the working back foglight... (someone correct me if i'm wrong)
The foglight is the first bulb closest to the licence plate, no ? that one is wired on mine but no bulb.

So i think they had to have a different connector because it's 6 bulb total inc. fog.
So i'm still in search of that 8pin connector # ???? Anyone knows or am I totally wrong !

thx

Btw, if you look at my pic above, I think the foglight should normally be in the only hole that currently doesn't have a bulb in ! Socket IS wired... I believe the foglight should always be on the driver side. So I think there's got to be a US version with foglight and a different connector than EU. You made me think that that connector might just be for US only !? I'll check with the local stealership then. I just thought EU had the 8 pin !

I'm not sure if my car is wired (being a '89) but if I have the right connector I'll just run a wire all the way up to the rotary switch... Should work no ?

Thx for the info and help
