97 E300

I recently bought a 97 E300D. Soon after the purchase, the dash lit up! The check engine light comes on. There are messages stating "ETS, check engine, ABS, and brake linear. The odometer and speedometer stops working also.I took the car to a MB dealership & they said the ETS module had to be replaced. I replaced the module ($1400.00) & the car is still doing the same thing. Now it also goes into first gear on its own!
Have you heard of this problem before or know what it could be?

That's an expensive misdiagnosis. What did the dealership say about that?

This may sound silly but I would go over the fuses with a fine tooth comb! :( A bad fuse in a Merc will give you all kinds of headaches!

The dealership said the ETS definitely had to replaced (even though replacing it did not help matters) & I just needed to bring it back for another diagnosis!
