560 Exhaust Crossover Pipe

I'm facing the replacement of the entire exhaust system in my '87 560SEL later this summer. Figuring out everything behind the engine is rather straight forward. However, sometime during the life of the car, a PO replaced the crossover pipe that runs from the rear of the left manifold to the rear of the right manifold with a piece of generic flexible piping. I'd like to replace this as it looks to be in pretty bad shape and I believe is leaking.

Can anyone recommend a good source for the correct pipe or an acceptable flexible substitute? I'm thinking salvage yard here as the price I've been quoted for a new one is around $450

Thanks,
jlc

I could probably provide one. I'd probably want a couple hundred for it as the motor is still in the car.

Steve,

I may take you up on your offer - a couple hundred is still better than $450. What can you tell me about the R&R procedure for that part? Is there a simple trick to it or not?

They're fun. Especially when the bolts are all rusted. Soak them with PB blaster or equivilent solution for a few days before attempting to loosen them... I had a hell of a time getting mine off.
