buzz....

I changed the oil and steering shock this morning before work....

When I was done I turned on the engine, shut it off to check the oil level and even though I pulled the key out of the iginition, the buzzer stayed on until I shut the door...

It's not affecting anythign, but I am surprised this happened....

in other words, it's reading as if they key is sitll in the ignition...

my guess is that it will be another one of those intermittent things.

Did you leave the lights or parking lights on?

lee polowczuk 06-23-2005 12:55 PM

No, I specifically checked if I left the lights on...that would seem to be the first culprit.... however, later this evening, I will double check in the dark to see if I missed something.....

like I said, it doesn't really affect anything, and fortunately goes off when you close the door...

..oh and when you open the door , the buzz does not come back on.

By the way my steering shock was shot....but the new one doesn't change any steering value , that I can determine.... I am sure however, that the new shock will aborb road bumps better, preserving the front end... my front end is pretty tight, anyway.

well, the buzz is still there until you close the door.

last night a new wrinkle...got in and the alarm went off, lights flashing, etc.

I was in my driveway.... I wound up putting the key in the ignition starting it up and it stopped.

it was still daylight, but it aroused interest in the neighborhood.

I had had a few, so I didnt' investigate any further.... no problems this morning.

my wife took the car for the day, so I am just replacing shocks on her Expedition. Mechanical stuff is so much easier than electrical.
