Window Channel

The window channel seems be have become misaligned because of a broken door check on my 95 S420. As a result the window is not going all the way into the door. I asked the dealer's body shop how they woud fix this problem and was told they would replace the door since the window channel is part of the door.

Does this seem to be the only solution to repair the window channel
