With 225k+ miles, the headlight lenses are rather sand-blasted. Can they be wet-sanded or polished to remove the pits?

In Europe the lenses can be renewed easily; isn't that possible with yours?
We only need to put new lenses on the headlight units...

you can purchase new headlight lens'. they can be obtained from adsitco.com kenny or capitolwest.com.

i think they run about 60 bucks each.

We can actually be fined or declared illegal for improving our night vision.

If you already have the Euro lights in the car, then try to locate new headlight doors (that is what they call the lenses, I believe). Then it should be a matter of removing the old door and sealing the new one on.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Can anyone, please, post a picture of what you americans consider to be euro headlights...I am getting a kind of confused here....

strange rules on that other side of the pond...Do you mean you have to exchange the complete headlight unit after ONLY the lens is damaged or you will be fined for illegal improving your night vision?

This site pointed out the differences very clear. I presume that the following quote of DOT headlights goes for the euro lights, sold in the US, as well:
"Often, the lenses are made of polycarbonate or other plastics which are hyped as a good anti-shatter replacement for glass, but which quickly deteriorates, becoming cloudy and yellowed or scratched."

If I am correctly, the euro lights are just US manufactured headlights with sealed lenses that provide a different light beam...
I thought that the euro headlights would be exact similar to our headlights (with exchangeable lenses).

the euro lights sold here are the same as yours.they all are made from[or of] crystal.GLASS not plastic.

all that has to be done[like you were saying]is change the lens. period.

you once again have "new" euro lights.
