My windows are stuck in the down position. What could be wrong and what would I have to do to fix it? Thanks.

Does the motor run?? If so, the problem is a little $7 piece of plastic that is easy to replace. It takes a little time, but it is not complicated. A quick and dirty fix is to remove the door panel and position the lifting arm underneath the window to hold it in place. I would disconnect the motor at this point to prevent accidental activation until you can get it fixed appropriately.

Is this $7 piece of plastic the part that hold the gear into the lift? My drivers window motor is just hanging there and looks like its missing some kind of strap that holds it into place. Right now I have nylon straps holding the window up. Thanks for your help.

No, that is not what I am talking about.

I think it is called a sliding jaw. It is a square piece of plastic that fits to the end of the lifting arm and rides inside the track that is fixed to the bottom of the glass.

You say windows - are they all stuck down? that would sound like a power problem before current ever gets to the windows, maybe a switch assembly problem, fuse, or wiring short. If it is just one window, my tech diagnosed the problem by turning on the ignition key and pressing the window switch. (If the switch is good, there will be a solenoid type clunk or click from the door, indicating power is making it as far as the door).
My switch was good, so he held the switch in the "raise window" position while he had me rapidly close the door with the offending window. (didn't quite slam the door, but pushed it closed more rapidly than normal). After a couple of tries, the window started working again! He said that it indicated a short in a wire, or a flat spot in the motor. Hope this helps - winter is a bad time for a stuck down window!
