Need a tool!!!

I need a 12point 17mm spline socket to remove the chain tensioner from a M103 engine. I have been everywhere and know one has it. I live in the Philadelphia Pa area any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance. Car is a 91 e300te 4matic wagon

g, are you looking for the triple square socket or the driver?

I guess it would be the driver! If you are removing your chain tensioner it would be after you take out the plug you remove the spring and then you are left with a nut that has 12 indents to except a 17mm 12point spline driver. Thanks for your help just stuck and cannot find tool. George

You say you need a male, but the photo depicts a female.

I haven't been into this part of the motor, but out of curiosity, went searching for a 17mm triple square male.

The largest size I found was 16mm and that was at Snap On. If they don't make a 17mm, I doubt it exists.

Are you sure this fitting is triple square and not torx or allen?

See the following thread.

It is the plunger retainer ring and a 17mm allen fits..

SAMSTAG sells a better tool than what I'm about to suggest, but if you're pressed for time, Auto Zone sells a set that includes the 17mm allen.

If you'r stuck, just stick a 17mm bolt in there with a couple of double nuts on the end so you can just use a 17mm socket to drive the bolt head...
or, better, just weld a bar/handle at a right angle on a 17mm/2" long bolt and you have the tool

Auto Zone got it

I got mine from Auto Zone, they are the 3 pieces set for about $10.00.
