Hi everyone

I am trying to solve, what I think might be a problem with my beloved 1985 190E 2.3L.

Although I don't have my A/C running yet, when I turn on the vents, to get some fresh air, it seems that the air coming from the vents is a lot hotter then the air outside my window, much hotter, as if it was heated up.

So what I did is pull out all the heating and cooling circuits, resoldered them, checked for functionality, and everything seems to be in order. If I turn the temp gauge, the temp increases, and decreaes accordignly, all the vents switch just fine, everything seems fine and dadndy with the electronics.
I opened up the dash, and the piping for the heater coil is super hot, so even if it is not on, it's as if I had a heater on in the car.

I came up with a plan to put some insulation around the pipes and inside the cabin to keep the heat out as much as possible, but I'm not sure if that will solve the problem. If I were able to keep the temp inside the car the same as it is outside, things would be perfect, but something tells me that the heater core is not going to let me do that.

Can anything be done to keep the heat out of the heater core? Maybe additional plumbing to switch to for the summer time? Anyone have any ideas? I know I have a few, but maybe someone has dome something similar before me.

IF your model has a 'monovalve' in the heater water circuit, it may be faulty. 12V is applied to this valve to CLOSE it, and if the ACC does not send 12V, OR the connection breaks, OR the diaphragm rutures, hot water will circulate through the heater core, giving this symptom.

Sounds like a vacuum problem, if you loose vacuum the heat comes on and the defrost vents open.

There's also a vacuum actuator for the water valve that may be acting up.
