Throttle/Idle Microswitch question

Hello All,

First of all, i have read all the threads and related information regarding this topic.

I would just like to ask on the default position of this switch when depressed by the throttle linkage.

Should the little roller thing on the micro switch be pressed by the throttle linkage part all the way down, or just partially?

right now on my M104 engine, the part of the throttle linkage that is suppossed to come into contact with the roller part of the micro switch is doing just that. It just rests on the micro switch contact but it doesnt push it down all the way.

any advice guys?

thanks!

Check it with a ohmmeter. With the throttle fully closed it should be one way -open or closed - don't remember which, and as the throttle is opened the meter should hit the opposite peg.

On trailing throttle (gasoline engines) the fuel flow is shut of after about a 2 second lag. When you apply throttle again, the microswitch re-establishes fuel flow before the throttle butterfly valve begins to open. This avoids jerkiness, and I can only assume that it serves the same purpose on diesels.
