HELP!!!!HELP!!!! FAN PULLEY M103 Engine

I can not for the life of me get the allen key on the fan pulley loose. I need help with ideas??? I need to get to the last bolt that holds the belt tensioner bracket on. So let me calm down. I am trying to remove the fan pulley and as mentioned it is tough. I must be doing something wrong. Thank you for listening. George

if you're trying to do what I think you're trying to do, you need a special tool to hold the fan in place while you undo the nut. its a rod with a 90 deg bend on the last half inch. do a search on viscous fan clutch and you should find out more

that is right george it is a long round handel that is bend at the end ,and it is placedon the oposite side of the the fan clutch.that hub where the fan cluch is bolted to has 4 holes where ith pulley for the cerpintine belt is bolted to.those u can not use.but then there are 2 empty holes where that rod fits in(the 90degee bend) and than u just unscrew the 8 mm allen..just make sure that allen in All the way, cause if u stip that bolt you are in big dudu

If you'd like to see the tool that I think you'd need do the following steps: go to www. startekinfo.com. Then click:

1.MB special tools
2.E-special tools
3.Service group order
4.#20 engine cooling system
5. 103.589.40.00 - bracing tool

Good luck. :sun_smile

Thanks everyone I did see the hole on the back of the fan pulley. I decided to utilize a strap wrench and it worked like a champ. One tough allen to remove and there was no locktite on it thank god. THank you for all of your help.

George
